BORG: John... we must admit.. we've heard that asking you what bike you currently ride is really a loaded question

John Williams: why's that?

BORG: cause it'd different from week to week... is this true?

JW: not different EVERY week!

BORG: oh really? what's your ride this week?

JW: (grin!) 2003 Ellsworth Truth - XTR/Disc brakes

BORG: uhhh huh! and what was your ride last week?

JW: (laughs!) 2002 Maverick America - XTR/Disc Brakes

BORG: oh really??? I see.... Maverick America .. what's that? It sounds like a super hero: Capt' America!

JW: funny you should say that... my son Travis calls that my "Capt'n America" bike

BORG: he's a bright young man we hear

JW: yeah... he's a chip off the ole block!

BORG: Did you know you are the oldest guy in BORG?

JW: no matter - I' still got it.... hmm... am I really? How old is Tom Duplain?

BORG: 48 I think

JW: hmm... darn .. I guess I am the SENIOR rider in borg.. that's ok... it's been great making new friends - even if they are all young. Just means it's all the more sweeter when I blow their socks off! I remember a time road riding with Jerry Livernois in Rancho Vistoso.. I was following him up a steep hill and he missed a shift and I blew right by him. Surprised the beejeebers off of him.. when he caught me at the next wait he asked me my name again... he had forgotten.

BORG: what's a "beejeeber"?

JW: it's like a "hebejeebee"

BORG: ohhhhh! .. so of all your moments with BORG CYCLING what's your best moment?

JW: that's easy.... it was recent... it has to be when Dave Swift (PD) thought he had a ruptured disc in his back when he rode under the power lines at Willow Springs... I was dying! Thanks for the laughs PD!

BORG: so you've seen a crash or two since riding with the BORG folks?

JW: oh yeah... and I've had a "few" myself... I think the best one I ever saw... only cause I don't think it could be recreated... was this crash that Carl Hughes did.. I call it BERM surfing. It happened out at Willow Springs... he laid his bike down sideways and was surfing across this berm and ended up surfing over a cactus. It was quite amazing!

BORG: word is Carl is amazing!

JW: only in his own mind - HA.. hey.. don't print that last part... he'll kill me next time he sees me... he'll "DUDE!" me to death

BORG: don't worry.... we wont!
